Sean “Diddy” Combs engaged in discussions with his legal team following a meeting with the judge during his ongoing sex trafficking trial in New York City on June 12, 2025. On this pivotal day, defense attorneys aimed to challenge the claims made by Combs’ ex-girlfriend, who alleges she endured a coercive relationship that included being pressured into engaging in sex with male escorts.
To strengthen their case, Combs’ lawyers played an audio clip in which he advised her to end their relationship, stating, “Move on. Just focus on what, at the end of the day, will make you feel better. How can we get to a solution where you can move on? I don’t want to be in a relationship like this… End this cycle. Move on with your life so that you don’t feel like I wasted your life.”
The woman, who testified under the pseudonym “Jane,” spent six emotional days on the witness stand detailing the disturbing dynamics of her relationship with Combs, which she claimed began to deteriorate in December 2023. Throughout her testimony, she conveyed the discomfort she felt about the drug-fueled parties, referred to as “hotel nights,” that Combs compelled her to join. Jane insisted that Combs was largely unaware of her true feelings on the matter.
Defense attorney Teny Geragos sought to emphasize moments in their relationship that contradicted Jane’s testimony, asking her, “He had indicated to you he wasn’t aware of how you were feeling?” She confirmed, “Yes. He did not want you to be upset?” to which she again replied in the affirmative.
Facing serious charges—including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy—Combs has maintained his innocence, claiming that any sexual encounters were consensual. As Jane delved into intense personal experiences, she recounted how promises of wealth and gifts from Combs could not overshadow the trauma of the encounters he insisted she partake in.
Jane revealed that the coercive atmosphere often left her with little choice, recounting a time when Combs threatened to withhold her rent payments and publicly disclose recordings of her in compromising situations. She even alleged that Combs had physically assaulted her during their tumultuous three-year relationship.
“I would give up all the money, vacations, and gifts if it meant I never had to have sex with a stranger during those dayslong parties,” she tearfully expressed to the jury. “I just thought it was unfair. All the nights with these men.”
As the trial approaches its conclusion, prosecutors indicated they might wrap up their case next week. Court resumes on Friday with anticipated testimonies from a federal agent and one of Combs’ assistants.
In a significant development, a civil lawsuit has resurfaced against Combs, filed by another former girlfriend, Chelsea Lovelace. She alleges that Combs coerced her into unwanted sexual encounters and even drugged her, resulting in a pregnancy termination. Lovelace’s lawsuit echoes many of the claims presented in the current criminal trial.
Additionally, as defense attorneys continued their narrative, they shared audio recordings that they argue demonstrate the shared nature of the activities during the alleged “hotel nights.” One recording featured Jane expressing enjoyment in a trip with Combs, saying, “I had so, so, so much fun with you,” contrary to her testimony about the circumstances.
The trial has attracted widespread media attention, with at least 59 individuals allegedly making claims against Combs over the years. As proceedings continue, the unfolding narrative reveals the complexities and turmoil surrounding Combs, whose legal troubles mount amid these serious allegations.
