Marieangela King Allman, the estranged wife of Elijah Blue Allman, has voiced her support for the 48-year-old musician after he was reportedly hospitalized due to an overdose. In a statement provided to People on Sunday, just a day after his emergency admission in Joshua Tree, California, she acknowledged the personal challenges her former partner has faced throughout the years.
Marieangela highlighted that Elijah has shown unwavering commitment to his sobriety, emphasizing his loyalty to loved ones. “Like many, he continues to confront his inner struggles—but it is important to recognize that he does so from a place of strength, not defeat,” she remarked.
She reiterated her belief in his resilience, stating, “Despite the assumptions that often color how his journey is portrayed, the reality is that Elijah remains grounded, focused, and deeply committed to living with integrity and purpose.”
In conclusion, she offered her unwavering support, affirming, “I want to state, without hesitation, that I will always root for him. My support is steadfast and comes from a place of deep respect for the person he is and the resilience he continues to show.”
Reports from TMZ indicated that Cher, Elijah’s mother, is doing everything possible to assist him during this tough time. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department notified People that when deputies arrived, Elijah was displaying erratic behavior and was being evaluated by emergency medical personnel.
Authorities revealed they found drugs at his residence, and Allman was subsequently taken to the hospital, with an investigation currently underway. Cher’s representative has yet to comment on the situation.
Cher welcomed Elijah, her son with Gregg Allman, in 1976. She also has a 56-year-old son, Chaz, from her marriage to Sonny Bono. While Elijah wed Marieangela in December 2013, their relationship has faced challenges, including his 2021 divorce filing, which was dismissed in February 2024. Marieangela, however, filed for divorce in April.
In May, Elijah was spotted in a disheveled state outside the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. He has spoken openly about his struggles with substance abuse, acknowledging in a 2014 interview that he began using drugs at age 11. Cher had previously sought a temporary sole conservatorship over his finances, citing his severe mental health and substance abuse issues, but later withdrew her request in 2024.
