Development for hardware components often takes years, which explains the recent leak of codenames for the anticipated Google Pixel 12 series. According to Mystic Leaks, the rumored codenames for the Pixel 12 models are as follows:

– Pixel 12: Galago
– Pixel 12 Pro: Sasquatch
– Pixel 12 Pro XL: Silverback
– Pixel 12 Pro Fold: Capuchin

In a nod to their themes, all four codenames reference primates, with “Sasquatch” serving as a playful homage to folklore. The name “Silverback” aptly reflects the largest device in the lineup.

Previously, the Pixel 10 series featured horse-themed codenames while the Pixel 11 series was inspired by bears. The ongoing trend showcases an intriguing approach to naming:

– Pixel 6: Birds
– Pixel 7: Cats
– Pixel 8: Dogs
– Pixel 9: Reptiles
– Pixel 10: Equines (or horses)
– Pixel 11: Bears
– Pixel 12: Primates

What stands out is Google’s intention to retain the same range of devices, including an entry-level option, two flagship models of varying sizes, and a foldable variant. Despite the timeline, being two years away from release means that both naming conventions and product specifications may undergo changes prior to their launch.

Currently, the smaller flagship has had less than a year of market insights, with the Pixel 10 Pro already in development. If adjustments to the lineup are to be expected, it is likely that they will manifest in the models labeled as Pixel 11 and 12 Pro.
