Oakley and Meta are gearing up for a joint product launch this Friday. A newly verified Instagram account dubbed “Oakley | Meta” has shared a collaborative video alongside the official pages of both companies, hinting at the release scheduled for June 20. This video has also been shared by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
The branding of this new account closely resembles that of the existing “Ray-Ban | Meta” collaboration, suggesting that Meta’s partnership with eyewear leader EssilorLuxottica is on the brink of expansion to include Oakley.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman had previously reported in January that while the Ray-Ban Meta glasses are designed for a wide audience and include a camera on the temple, the Oakley Meta glasses will feature a central camera and cater specifically to athletes, particularly cyclists.
So far, Ray-Ban Meta glasses have proven to be a commercial success. EssilorLuxottica announced in February that sales had surpassed 2 million units, prompting plans to boost annual production capacity to 10 million by the end of 2026.
In related developments, during the I/O event in May, Google revealed it is collaborating with emerging competitors to EssilorLuxottica, including Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, to develop rival smart glasses, while also indicating future partnerships with Kering Eyewear.
Additionally, reports suggest that Apple has ambitions to release its own smart glasses by late 2026.
As the launch date approaches, we will closely monitor Meta and EssilorLuxottica to bring you the latest information on the Oakley Meta glasses once they are officially announced.
