“The Pitt” Season 2 has officially begun production, continuing the storytelling of the acclaimed Max medical drama. Filming takes place primarily at the Warner Bros. studio in Burbank, California, with some exterior scenes shot on location in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The new season is set to premiere in January 2026, as previously announced.
Renewed for a second season back in February, shortly after its debut, the show stars Noah Wyle and offers a nuanced portrayal of the challenges faced by healthcare professionals in contemporary America, viewed through the experiences of the frontline heroes at a hospital in Pittsburgh.
The inaugural season consisted of 15 episodes, each unfolding within the span of one hour of a 15-hour shift at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. Joining Wyle in the cast were Tracey Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, and Shabana Azeez.
Created by R. Scott Gemmill, who also serves as an executive producer, Wyle shares production duties with John Wells and Erin Jontow from John Wells Productions, alongside Michael Hissrich and Simran Baidwan. Warner Bros. Television, which has a longstanding partnership with John Wells Productions, is the studio behind the series.
Since its premiere, “The Pitt” has received significant acclaim from both critics and audiences, recognized for its performances, writing, and authentic depiction of emergency room staff. As the awards season approaches, Variety’s Clayton Davis has projected the series will vie for multiple Emmy nominations, including categories for best drama, best actor in a drama for Wyle, and best supporting actress in a drama for LaNasa and Dearden. The official announcements for Emmy nominations are scheduled for July 15.
