Iran Denounces Israeli Strike on State TV Building as ‘War Crime’

Iran has denounced Israel’s recent attack on a state television office in Tehran, labeling it a “war crime” and urging the United Nations to intervene. A spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry described the strike on the IRIB building during a live broadcast as a “wicked act” and demanded immediate action from the UN Security Council to stop what they referred to as a “genocidal aggressor” from perpetrating further atrocities against the Iranian people.

The Israeli assault occurred while a presenter was speaking on air, with reports indicating that the studio was engulfed in dust following the explosion. Viewers heard the chaos unfold, with the presenter hurriedly leaving the frame as debris filled the studio. In the background, shouts of “Allahu Akbar” (“God is greatest”) could be heard before the broadcast switched to pre-recorded segments. Live programming resumed shortly thereafter.

The attack was condemned by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which referred to it as “inhuman, criminal and a terrorist act.” The incident marks a significant escalation in hostilities between the two nations. On Friday, Israel launched a surprise offensive aimed at Iran’s nuclear and military sites, claiming responsibility for the deaths of at least 224 individuals in Iran, including military leaders, nuclear scientists, and civilians.

In response, Iran has executed strikes involving drones and missiles, resulting in a reported 24 fatalities in Israel, according to figures released by the prime minister’s office. Iran has never recognized Israel and has consistently accused it of conducting sabotage against its nuclear infrastructure and assassinating its scientists.
