Catherine, Princess of Wales, unexpectedly canceled her appearance at Royal Ascot on Wednesday. The 43-year-old royal was slated to attend the horse racing event alongside her husband Prince William, King Charles, and Queen Camilla, and spectators were eager to catch a glimpse of her during the traditional carriage procession.
Sources indicate that the princess is disappointed about missing the Berkshire event, located just outside London. She is currently focusing on balancing her responsibilities as she resumes public engagements following her cancer treatment.
Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis after undergoing abdominal surgery last March, when she was in the early stages of treatment. During her recovery, she made only sporadic appearances over the summer months.
In September, she announced that she had completed chemotherapy and expressed her determination to remain cancer-free. In January, she visited the London hospital where she received treatment, engaging with medical staff and patients.
Kensington Palace stated that her visit aimed to express gratitude to the team at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in Chelsea, west London, while also shining a light on their exceptional work. Following that visit, Kate shared her relief in achieving remission and emphasized her continued focus on recovery.
“As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal,” she noted in a social media post at the time. “I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
In recent weeks, Kate has participated in various royal events, including the Trooping the Colour parade in London and the Order of the Garter service in Windsor. This report has been updated to include the latest developments.
