Essential Tips for Mastering FBC: Firebreak

C

As fans eagerly await the release of Control 2, Remedy Games has launched a new multiplayer title set within its universe, FBC: Firebreak. This game deviates from the serious tone of Control, instead offering a more light-hearted experience. Players assume the roles of mundane workers at the Federal Bureau of Control, tasked with handling emergencies and combating adversaries known as the Hiss while simultaneously repairing various devices.

In squads of up to three players, participants must complete a range of objectives and enhance their skills to advance through the game. Here are four essential tips to help you succeed in FBC: Firebreak.

**1. Team Up**
Although it is possible to play alone, teaming up significantly enhances the gaming experience. Similar to Elden Ring: Nightreign, FBC: Firebreak thrives on communication and cooperation among players. It’s worth noting that, unlike its predecessor, FBC: Firebreak features cross-platform play but does not offer in-game voice chat.

Going solo makes achieving tasks, such as fixing machines and fending off enemies, much more challenging. With teammates, you can combine and leverage the unique abilities provided by the game’s Crisis Kits, allowing for more efficient and effective gameplay. Furthermore, if you get downed, your allies can revive you, sparing you from the cost of respawning.

**2. Understand Crisis Kits**
Crisis Kits, which serve as character classes in Firebreak, are essential to gameplay. Currently, there are three kits: Fix, Jump, and Splash.

– The **Fix Kit** specializes in close-range combat, equipped with a wrench and shotgun. Although the wrench inflicts minimal damage, it is crucial for repairing machines displaying a wrench icon, bypassing an involved mini-game. This kit also includes a turret and the AI16 Piggy Altered Augment, which generates a coin twister to attack foes.

– The **Jump Kit** is ideal for crowd control, utilizing the Electro-Kinetic Charge Impactor to rapidly activate machinery like showers and ammo closets. It features a boombox that lures in enemies before detonation and the AI19 Garden Gnome Altered Augment, which unleashes lightning bolts on adversaries.

– The **Splash Kit** serves as a traditional support class, leveraging water-based abilities. The Crank-Operated Fluidic Ejector can cleanse teammates of negative effects such as fire and apply the “wet” status to enemies, synergizing perfectly with Jump Kits. This kit is equipped with the AI44 Teapot Altered Augment, which heats water to scald enemies for additional damage.

**3. Get Acquainted with Job Sites**
FBC: Firebreak features five distinct Job Sites, each with unique environments and objectives. Knowing the specific job at hand can help determine the most effective Crisis Kits to bring along.

– **Hot Fix** involves repairing fans and preventing the furnace from causing chaos. The Splash Kit excels here, providing crucial support against potential burns.
– **Paper Chase** requires the destruction of sticky notes dispersed throughout the locale, where the Splash Kit can help dampen notes for easy destruction by the Jump Kit.
– **Ground Control** is straightforward, focusing on defeating insects to collect their pearls.
– **Frequency Shift** challenges players with managing explosive pink goo contamination.
– **Freezer Duty** requires activating heaters to melt ice, where the Jump Kit proves advantageous for rapid heater activation.

**4. Regularly Collect Research Samples and Lost Assets**
As you navigate the Job Sites, keep an eye out for Lost Assets and Research Samples, which are vital for unlocking perks and upgrading your equipment. Lost Assets appear as stationary items like clipboards and papers, while Research Samples look like piles of colorful powder, contributing to your overarching progress.

Be aware that certain Research Samples are only available in specific Job Sites. To locate them, make sure to activate at least one level of Corruption. Notably, each Job Site has designated samples:
– **Hot Fix:** Whispering Ash samples
– **Paper Chase:** Viscous Strip samples
– **Ground Control:** Achromatic Sand samples
– **Frequency Shift:** Resonant Glob samples
– **Freezer Duty:** Numbed Splinters samples

Lastly, ensure you complete your tasks and extract via the elevator after finishing a Job; failure to do so will result in losing any collected items.

FBC: Firebreak is now available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
