Iran Launches Missile Attack on Al-Udeid US Base, Intercepted Over Qatar

Explosions echoed through Doha, Qatar, on Monday amid intelligence reports indicating Iran’s intent to target U.S. military installations within the nation. A senior official from the White House confirmed that both the White House and Pentagon are actively monitoring threats directed at Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American military facility in the Middle East.

In the Situation Room, Joint Chiefs Chair Gen. Dan Caine and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth were closely tracking the situation as news of the explosions emerged.

The foreign ministry of Qatar issued a statement condemning the missile attack, emphasizing that there were no casualties. “The State of Qatar strongly condemns the attack that targeted Al-Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. We consider this a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, its airspace, international law, and the United Nations Charter,” the ministry stated.

The statement reassured the public that Qatar’s air defenses effectively intercepted the missiles, with plans for a more detailed account of the incident expected from the Ministry of Defense. Additionally, officials indicated that they reserve the right to retaliate against Iran’s actions.

This missile strike, involving at least six missiles, occurred shortly after Qatar closed its airspace earlier on the same day. High-ranking Iranian officials had previously pledged repercussions following President Donald Trump’s recent military action against Iran’s nuclear program.

Iranian state media confirmed the commencement of the military response, referring to the attack as “Operation Fatah’s Blessing.” This proclamation was broadcast on state television, accompanied by martial music. A caption billed the assault as “a mighty and successful response by the armed forces of Iran to America’s aggression.”
