Taylor Swift Announces She Has Regained Control of Her Masters

In a heartfelt message posted on her website, Taylor Swift revealed on Friday that she has successfully purchased back the rights to her music catalog. This significant milestone arrives following a tumultuous journey that began when her masters were sold to music executive Scooter Braun in 2019, a deal that was later transferred to Shamrock Capital, which engaged in negotiations with Swift to finalize her recent buyback.

To commemorate this achievement, Swift shared a series of new photographs showcasing herself amidst her first six albums. In true Swift fashion, she adorned herself with jewelry laden with meaning, including an ancient coin necklace from jeweler Steven Battelle. She first wore this special piece during a Kansas City Chiefs game in January.

Battelle explained to Page Six Style that one side of the necklace features the goddess Roma, who was traditionally believed to protect the citizens of Rome. The opposite side depicts Victoria, the goddess of victory, striking a resonant chord as Swift celebrates her newfound ownership. The coin dates back to 109-108 BC during the Roman Republic.

Reflecting on the significance of this moment, Swift had previously expressed her discontent in a 2019 open letter, describing Braun’s acquisition of her masters as her “worst case scenario.” She detailed the bullying she faced from him and his associates, including artists like Kanye West and Justin Bieber.

In response to losing her masters, Swift embarked on a bold journey, re-recording and re-releasing four of her earlier albums as “Taylor’s Versions.” This initiative not only reasserted her artistic control but also played a pivotal role in the success of her record-breaking Eras Tour.

In her celebratory photos, the “Love Story” singer sported a Tiffany & Co. ring adorned with her initials, which fans speculate represents her individuality and her connection to her partner, NFL player Travis Kelce. Kelce notably liked Swift’s post announcing her masters deal, adding another layer of excitement for fans.

The Grammy-winning artist also showcased multiple rings, including an evil eye design from Jacquie Aiche. Aiche emphasized the symbolism behind the intertwined eyes, stating they serve as talismans for strength and protection.

With this long-fought battle concluded in her favor, it seems Swift is ready to embrace a new chapter with confidence and purpose.
