Bad Bunny Criticizes ICE During Puerto Rico Raids in Social Media Video

Bad Bunny observed and recorded an ICE arrest in Puerto Rico, sharing footage on social media that captured agents detaining individuals on the street. The Puerto Rican artist posted the video on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday, labeling the situation with the word ‘ice’ and condemning Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s actions on Avenida Pontezuela in Carolina.

In the footage, he remarks, “Look, those motherfuckers are in these cars, RAV-4s. They’re here in Pontezuela. Sons of bitches, instead of leaving the people alone and working there.”

Throughout the year, ICE arrests in cities such as Los Angeles and New York City have fueled protests across the United States. Earlier this month, an ICE investigator noted that approximately 20,000 immigrants are living without legal status in Puerto Rico. NPR reported that nearly 500 immigrant arrests have been made since President Trump took office again, with 75 percent of those individuals being Dominican nationals.

Bad Bunny is among several musicians who have expressed their concerns about ICE’s operations. Just this past weekend, Olivia Rodrigo shared her dismay over what she described as “violent deportations of my neighbors” in Los Angeles. Many other artists, including Billie Joe Armstrong, Finneas, and Kehlani, have echoed similar sentiments.

Previously, Bad Bunny publicly supported a third-party candidate, Juan Dalmau, in a critical Puerto Rican election slated for November 2024. The musician is also preparing for a 30-show residency at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, which will commence on July 11 and continue until September 14.
