When asked if Germany anticipates U.S. participation in the Israeli strikes, Merz noted, “we have talked about this,” asserting that the U.S. decision hinges on whether the Iranian government is willing to re-engage in diplomatic discussions. Merz remarked, “If not, there could be such a further development,” emphasizing the urgency of the situation during his appearance from Kananaskis, Canada, where he is attending the G7 summit. He added, “But we will have to wait and see. The decisions will probably be made in the near future.”
