Sega is set to discontinue support for nine of its retro mobile games that were adapted for iOS and Android in previous years. While an official removal timeline has not been announced, the company has made these titles available for free and eliminated any in-app purchases, as reported by Android Authority.
The games currently available for download on both Apple’s and Google’s app stores include:
– Crazy Taxi Classic (Android, iOS)
– Streets of Rage Classic (Android, iOS)
– Streets of Rage 2 Classic (Android, iOS)
– Super Monkey Ball: Sakura Edition (Android, iOS)
– Virtua Tennis Challenge (Android, iOS)
– Golden Axe Classics (Android, iOS)
– Shining Force Classics (Android, iOS)
– Sonic CD Classic (Android, iOS)
– Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II (Android, iOS)
These titles feature a notification informing players that “support for this game will be discontinued, but you can continue playing offline!”
Initially launched under Sega’s Forever program—which ended in late 2023—these games are now facing the same fate as others previously removed from app stores, such as Phantasy Star Classics. Although Sega has not indicated when these nine titles will be taken down, players who have already downloaded and installed them will retain access, even if the games are no longer available for new downloads.
