Elijah Blue Allman, the son of pop icon Cher, has been hospitalized after an overdose in Joshua Tree, California. The 48-year-old is currently receiving medical treatment, and sources indicated to TMZ that he is fortunate to have survived the incident.
Cher, 79, is reportedly prioritizing her son’s well-being, dedicating her efforts to ensure he receives the necessary help. As of now, the specific substances involved in Allman’s overdose remain unclear. Representatives for Cher have not yet responded to requests for comment from Page Six.
Elijah is the only child Cher shares with her late ex-husband, Gregg Allman. She also has a son, Chaz Bono, 56, with her late first ex-husband, Sonny Bono. In past interviews, Elijah has openly discussed his struggles with substance abuse, revealing he began using drugs at around the age of 11.
In 2023, Cher sought temporary sole conservatorship over her son’s financial matters, citing severe mental health and substance abuse challenges. Court documents highlighted concerns that any funds released to Elijah could be immediately spent on drugs, jeopardizing his future and well-being. She later withdrew this request in September 2024.
Elijah’s recent overdose follows an incident last month, where he was seen looking disheveled outside the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood, dressed in a torn T-shirt and baggy shorts. He appeared sweaty and disoriented during that appearance.
Currently, Elijah is navigating a divorce from Marieangela King, who filed for separation, citing irreconcilable differences, and is seeking $6,000 per month in temporary spousal support, according to court documents obtained by Page Six in April.
