Kenyan Youth Rally in Nairobi Urging President William Ruto to Step Down

In Nairobi, a significant gathering of young protesters took to the streets, including Amina Mude, who expressed her concerns to the BBC about the state of the nation. “I want to fight for the future of my kids,” she stated passionately. Mude criticized the direction of the country, particularly regarding education and other pressing issues. “I feel like as a country we’re not going in the right direction, especially in education and everything happening. So I’m here to fight for a better Kenya,” she added.

Mude emphasized the need for the government to heed the voices of the youth, stating, “It’s high time that the country and the leadership listens to us. We’re here to do it peacefully and to just tell them, you know, listen to us. That’s the biggest thing. And not killing us.” She also voiced her fears about the situation, mentioning, “I’m actually very scared. I’m waiting to just run away.”
