Nintendo’s recent launch of the Switch 2 has set a remarkable new record in the gaming industry, with over 1.1 million units sold in the United States during the week ending June 7, 2025. This achievement surpasses all previous console launches in the U.S., excluding sales from the My Nintendo Store. The previous record was held by the PlayStation 4.
Current projections suggest that the total sales for the full week could reach between 1.3 and 1.35 million units, though this figure is yet to be fully verified.
Among the best-selling physical games for the Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World took the top spot, followed by Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Notably, 79 percent of purchasers of the new console opted for Mario Kart World, either as a physical copy or bundled with the hardware.
This week, Nintendo announced that the Switch 2 has become the fastest-selling console in the company’s history in the U.S., achieving the highest global sales for any Nintendo platform within its first four days.
