In a recent escalation of violence, Russian forces launched a devastating attack on Dnipro, killing 17 individuals and injuring many others. This assault follows a day after a similarly deadly strike in Kyiv, which resulted in the deaths of 9 people and left over 30 injured.
The bombardment in Dnipro caused extensive damage, targeting more than 40 schools and kindergartens, a cathedral, a music hall, a sports arena, and eight medical facilities, as well as numerous residential structures. Additionally, a passenger train en route from Odesa to Dnipro was struck during the attack, according to local reports.
Amid these ongoing conflicts, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is at the NATO summit in the Netherlands, urging allies to impose stricter sanctions on Russia and further isolate the Kremlin on the global stage. In a statement made in February, Zelenskyy criticized the U.S. administration under President Donald Trump for enabling Russia’s resurgence on the world stage, as Trump has been hesitant to enforce additional sanctions, citing the possibility of diplomatic progress.
Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of cutting off Russia’s access to weaponry, stating, “Russia cannot produce ballistic missiles without components from other countries. Russia cannot manufacture hundreds of other types of weapons without the parts, equipment, and expertise that this deranged regime in Moscow does not possess on its own. That is why it is so important to minimize the schemes that connect Russia with its accomplices.”
