Samsung has commenced the rollout of a new update for the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic, mirroring a previous update for other devices.
This update, identified by the build numbers R940XXS1BYE9 for the Galaxy Watch 6 and R960XXS1BYE9 for the Classic model, focuses on enhancing security. Although it is a minor update, Samsung advises users to download and install it to ensure their devices integrate the latest software revisions.
The May 2025 security update includes the following key enhancements:
– Enhanced security measures for device protection.
– Minor improvements that are still recommended for installation.
Currently, the update is being distributed to both versions of the device in the United States, with carrier-specific models likely to follow. Users can initiate the update through the Galaxy Watch settings or the Samsung Wearables app. Moreover, the update may also appear automatically when the watch is rebooted or remains idle for a period.
Looking ahead, Samsung is preparing its devices for the upcoming Wear OS 6; however, the beta version has yet to be released for the Galaxy Watch lineup following its official announcement. The Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic will take part in the One UI 8 beta, although specific timelines for this rollout remain uncertain.
