This week in travel news, we delve into some intriguing stories: a park that houses the authentic Batcave, an unnoticed adventure hotspot in Asia, and a romantic tale of a Canadian and an American that blossomed in Mexico.
Don’t Rush the Aisle.
The impatience of passengers eager to disembark can lead to chaotic scenes on landing, particularly if individuals stand up before the plane has fully stopped. To address this issue, the Turkish government has implemented stricter regulations.
According to a recent memo from Turkey’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation, passengers may face fines if they “stand up, go to the corridor, open the overhead bins and proceed along the aisles … despite the announcements about the rules during taxi after landing, when the aircraft has not yet reached the parking position and the seat belt warning lights have not turned off.”
Details about the fine amount have not been disclosed, and it remains uncertain whether any fines have been issued so far. Given that IGA Istanbul Airport is one of the most connected airports globally and this rule applies to all commercial flights into Turkey, numerous travelers may be affected.
In addition to standing before reaching the gate, fines can also target “passengers who use or attempt to use smoke-producing devices or products (aka vapes) on the aircraft.”
