In the early hours of Sunday, President Trump stated, “The U.S. had nothing to do with the attack on Iran, tonight.” He issued a stark warning, saying, “If we are attacked in any way, shape or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the U.S. Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before.”
Adding a diplomatic perspective, Trump expressed optimism about a potential resolution: “However, we can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel, and end this bloody conflict!!!”
Meanwhile, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi announced that talks between the U.S. and Iran set for today had been canceled. The discussions were initially aimed at negotiating terms related to Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of certain sanctions. Recently, a United Nations watchdog reported that Iran had significantly increased its stockpile of uranium close to weapons-grade levels.
The heightened aggression from Israel has raised alarms about renewed instability in the Middle East, with various leaders calling for restraint and a return to diplomatic negotiations. Following the Israel Defense Forces’ evacuation order, Defense Minister Israel Katz asserted that Israel “will strike the sites and continue to peel the skin off the Iranian snake in Tehran and everywhere, stripping it of nuclear capabilities and weapons systems.”
According to the Associated Press, Israel’s Magen David Adom rescue service reported that 13 individuals had been killed on Sunday. In contrast, Iran’s U.N. ambassador, Amir Saeid Iravani, reported on Saturday that 78 people had lost their lives in Iran, with more than 320 others injured, as noted by the Wall Street Journal. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei condemned the Israeli military strikes on residential areas, as per reports from the Islamic Republic News Agency.
