Two Minnesota Lawmakers Shot in Apparent Targeted Attacks; Manhunt Underway

In a shocking series of events, two Minnesota state lawmakers were shot in what authorities describe as targeted incidents on Saturday, leaving both in critical condition. A manhunt is currently in progress for the assailant.

Sources close to the investigation have identified the victims as state Senator John Hoffman and state Representative Melissa Hortman. The shootings occurred at their respective homes, with officials indicating that the shooter may have been posing as law enforcement.

These violent incidents transpired in Champlin and Brooklyn Park, approximately eight miles apart, just north of Minneapolis. Both lawmakers are Democrats, with Hortman having previously served as Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives.

The FBI has joined local authorities in the hunt for the shooter, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is actively monitoring the situation, having activated the State Emergency Operations Center.
