Whitney Purvis, a former star of ’16 and Pregnant,’ has revealed that she did not attend her son Weston Gosa Jr.’s funeral, placing the blame on his father. Purvis claims she was denied entry to the service last Saturday in Georgia because she arrived two hours late, following misinformation about the start time.
In a passionate Facebook post shared on Wednesday, she alleged that Weston Gosa Sr. provided her with incorrect details regarding the timing of the viewing and did not include her on the guest list. Purvis said, “[Weston Sr.] told me the funeral started at 4 p.m., when it actually started at 2 p.m.”
The tragic loss of Weston Jr., who died unexpectedly earlier this month at the age of 16, drew a response from his father, who told TMZ that he had communicated the correct start time a week ahead of the funeral and confirmed Purvis was on the list. According to Gosa Sr., the viewing lasted from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., with the funeral service beginning promptly at 4 p.m. He stated that Purvis arrived after 4:15 p.m. and was informed by the funeral director that she could not enter.
Purvis expressed her frustration in her Facebook post, stating, “You had to be on a list to get into the funeral. Guess who wasn’t on the list? Me and all my friends and family were not allowed to come in. I HAVE SEVERAL WITNESSES who heard the funeral home tell me I was not on the list as well as themselves. It wouldn’t matter what time I got there I wasn’t getting in.”
She continued to voice her anguish by saying, “That is some evil sh** to do to someone. Why could we not just celebrate our love for Weston? You have to take this opportunity to make me suffer even more.”
Furthermore, Purvis revealed that she has not received a sufficient portion of her late son’s ashes, despite agreeing to cremation. She accused Weston Sr. of offering to provide an urn but then withholding the ashes, stating, “He said he would get me an urn which I thought was a nice gesture but it turns out that was just a way for him to control how much of his ashes I would get which wasn’t much and in the end he never gave it to me.”
Gosa Sr. countered that Purvis’s family members, including her parents and uncle, attended the funeral without issue. He also confirmed to TMZ that Weston Jr.’s official cause of death is listed as ‘natural causes’ on his death certificate.
Whitney Purvis, who first gained recognition on the premiere season of ’16 and Pregnant’ in 2009, has since welcomed another son, River. She faced challenges in maintaining custody of both her children and made headlines after a 2024 arrest related to unpaid child support.
