“Manchester United Transfer Update: Bryan Mbeumo ‘Wants to Join’ According to David Ornstein”

Manchester United has received encouraging news in their pursuit of a winger likened to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, as reported by journalist David Ornstein. This season has proven to be a difficult one for the Red Devils. Following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag, they appointed Ruben Amorim in hopes of revitalizing their campaign. Nonetheless, United finished a disappointing 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite these setbacks, the club is determined to rebuild for the next season, with Amorim focused on restoring Manchester United to its former glory. The team has already reinforced its lineup by securing Matheus Cunha from Wolves, aiming to utilize the Brazilian in one of the two attacking midfield roles.

In their quest for further attacking options, Manchester United is set to open negotiations with Brentford regarding Bryan Mbeumo. Ornstein detailed in The Athletic that “Bryan Mbeumo has decided he wants to join Manchester United, and the Old Trafford club is set to open talks with Brentford as they pursue an agreement to sign the forward this summer.”

Mbeumo is also a target for Arsenal and Tottenham, with former Chelsea and Spurs defender Jason Cundy referring to him as “a mini-Salah” back in May. The 25-year-old primarily played as a right winger under Brentford manager Thomas Frank last season, where he impressed by scoring 20 goals and providing eight assists over 38 Premier League matches. In comparison, Salah scored 29 goals and contributed 18 assists in the same number of appearances for Liverpool.

According to TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent, Fraser Fletcher, Manchester United faces competition from Newcastle United for Mbeumo, who is reportedly valued at £60 million by Brentford. Sources indicate that while Newcastle is also interested in the winger, they are hesitant to meet the asking price, preferring to negotiate a lower fee.

With Brentford’s management indicating that Mbeumo could depart to a club offering an appropriate price, the forward appears unlikely to remain with the Bees next season. Frank acknowledged the situation regarding Mbeumo, stating, “I can definitely understand the interest in him. There should be interest in him. He is at his best age, he has scored 20 goals. I would like to keep him, but we are a selling club so if someone comes in with the right price.”

Additionally, the news surrounding United does not end with Mbeumo. A former Premier League striker has been proposed to the club, and reports indicate Manchester United is aware of the fee required to acquire goalkeeper Andriy Lunin from Real Madrid this summer. There are also suggestions that a Barcelona player may be offered to United as part of a deal involving Marcus Rashford.
